COAL
Pakistan is a country that is rich in coal reserves. According to estimates, the country has around 185 billion tons of coal reserves, which is equivalent to 618 billion barrels crude oil. Most of these coal reserves are found in the Thar Desert in Sindh province, which is considered to be one of the largest coal reserves in the world.
The coal in Pakistan is mainly lignite, which is a low-grade coal with high moisture content and low calorific value. The lignite coal in Pakistan is estimated to have a heating value of 6,000 to 7,000 BTUs per pound, which is significantly lower than the higher quality bituminous and anthracite coal found in other parts of the world.
Aspect ratios
Coal can have different aspect ratios depending on various factors such as the coal type, the method of mining, and the processing method. Aspect ratio is the ratio of the length of the longest dimension of an object to its width.
In general, coal can have a wide range of aspect ratios. For example, some types of coal, such as anthracite, have a higher aspect ratio because they are denser and have a more layered structure. In contrast, other types of coal, such as lignite, have a lower aspect ratio because they are less dense and have a more amorphous structure.
Moreover, the aspect ratio can also be influenced by the method of mining and processing.
Anthracite coal
This is a high-quality coal with high carbon content and low sulfur content. It burns slowly and produces a lot of heat, making it ideal for use in residential heating systems and as a fuel in power plants.
Bituminous coal
This is a relatively soft coal that is commonly used for industrial purposes, such as in the production of coke, which is used in steelmaking. It has a higher carbon content than lignite and subbituminous coal, but lower than anthracite coal.
Subbituminous coal
This is a low-grade coal with high moisture content and low heating value. It is mainly used for power generation in power plants located near lignite mines
Peat
This is an organic fuel that is formed from partially decayed plant material. It has a low heating value and is mainly used for domestic heating and gardening purposes
